Don't do like 95% of the French

95% of French people do not do enough physical activity

The National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (Anses) has just revealed a study on the French and physical activities.

So hang in there, because only 5% of French adults have enough physical activity

To this lack of physical activity of the majority of the French population, is added the too long period spent sitting, which considerably increases the health risks..

But then why are so many French people not moving enough??

The advent of confinement has only confirmed, according to the Agency, the sedentary tendency of the French. In particular, teleworking.

Moreover, as BFMTV points out, if the danger threshold for a sedentary lifestyle is 8 hours, on average in France, this level reaches 7 hours, and 38% of adults even exceed this level capped at 8 hours. In question, TV and social networks; nearly 2 out of 10 French people spend more than 5 hours in front of their TV! It is also important to emphasize the fact that the longer the years of study, the less these people will have sufficient physical activity.

What are the health risks?

So, it's a bit logical, the more the lack of activity and the long periods spent sitting combine, the higher the health risks.

For these people, the risks of mortality and comorbidity are higher. The Agency mentions the risks of cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or even hypertension and obesity. For the least active adults, the risk of mortality even reaches 40% more than for the rest of the French.

The different levels of activity to be healthy

ANSES has identified 3 levels for being in good health

Level 1 : practice cardiovascular activity 30 minutes a day and 5 times a week.

Level 2: perform muscle exercises, 1-2 times a week.

Level 3: perform flexibility and stretching exercises 2 to 3 times a week.
